Will and Kate's Baby

So is everyone excited about Will and Kate's baby announcement? In the UK the big betting shops are already taking odds on the baby's sex, name, hair color etc.

So let's choose our own name for them. Vote here on the name you would choose for a boy or a girl.
My choices are Victoria Anne Elizabeth Dianna for a girl
and for a boy I think Phillip will be in there somewhere but not as a first name (Phillip was king of Spain at the time of the Armada) George definitely after the queen's father, maybe David or something Welsh because of their current residence in Wales: so my bet would be George Phillip David Charles.

And your guess would be?

  1. A girl and they will name her after Diana.

  2. I think a girl, too, and like that Diana would be part of it, but not the first name. Victoria Elizabeth Diana Mary sounds nice. How difficult it is to select 4 names! Maybe they'll start a new tradition of only 2 or 3. If it's a boy, I think your choice, Rhys, is perfect!

  3. I think it will be a girl also. And yes Victoria for the first part of the name and yes, Diana somewhere in there. If a boy, not sure, but I think there may be a Henry in the name somewhere.

  4. My daughter's name is May Victoria, so I like May Victoria Diana Elizabeth. hehe George V's consort was Queen Mary, but everyone called her May.

But I really hope if it's a girl they don't name her Victoria for the first name. The royal family has been there, done that. I like Alexandra or Charlotte for the first name. They're both regal, have history, sound nice, and haven't been used to death. Besides, if Victoria's the first name, the media will call her Vicky. And no offense to any Vickies out there, but I really don't like that name. Just like people always shorten my name to Kim (even though I never refer to myself as that). I hate being called Kim, but I like Kimberly.

  5. I am afraid that Rhys, you stole the best names. Perhaps Alexandra would be good too. I don;t see another good choice for a boy unless they add Arthur to the mix.

  6. I like the name you came up with Rhys, my choice would be Mary Elizabeth Diana Victoria. While I love the name Charlotte it is rather popular in the UK and gaining in the US, so I think Will and Kate should go for something that is not as mainstream. While Mary is an old fashioned name there aren't many around in this generation. As for Victoria it should be in there somewhere but my Italian family is litered with them so I hope they don't use it as a first name and of course Diana should be a part of the babies name if they have a girl.
George, Phillip, Charles, David are all in the mix for a boy as well as Albert but I hope despite being the name of Will's great grandfather they avoid that going in that direction.

  7. I didn't come up with this, but when I heard it I thought it was quite appropriate: if it's a boy they could use Spencer as part of the name. This would pay tribute to Diana and her side of the family. Spencer Phillip, maybe?

  8. I think Victoria Grace or Victoria Elizabeth with Diana in there somewhere. For a boy I'd like to see him have a name not used in the last couple generations. Maybe Alexander Philip Spencer or something.

  9. I hope they throw tradition to the wind and name the child something they like. There is already a living Charles (2), Philip and David in the family. The child would always be little whatsit. If it's a girl, I hope they do what Andrew and Fergie did and give her a unique name. (Not Apple unique, but unique.) I personally like Peter and Amy. If they want tradition they can include that in the middle names which really don't matter, because a name comes down to what you call the kid.
